24 Hour Crisis Intervention/Critical Incident Management

Risk management and Duty of Care requirements place onerous responsibilities on management. Therefore in addition to supplying EAP services, Working Relationships underwrites it's contracted client's risk management with regards critical incidents in the work place.

A critical incident is any unexpected, unpredictable event that produces a strong emotional response and has the potential to overwhelm personal coping capabilities.

Critical Incident Debriefing is an intervention used to prevent the development of post-traumatic stress disorder and assists in the management of physical, emotional, cognitive and psychological responses to traumatic events. Such incidents include suicide, heart attack, mining accidents, robbery, road trauma and a range of major crimes.

During business hours this service is managed by Sheena Edwards, Co-ordinator of Working Relationships , and other senior KinWay staff. After hours calls are diverted to a mobile phone. The nominated counsellor will decide on appropriate action and may arrange attendance at the worksite if necessary. This service, available to authorised personnel, is accessed by calling an 1800 number.

In order to cover costs associated with this service, an hourly fee or part thereof applies. Therefore authorisation by a senior staff member is required to access this service.
